Yoga

Posted by kilohana under Health, fitness

backbend Yoga has always interested me. The whole flexibility and cool poses, makes me want to learn. It’s like a Yoga movement going on and I want to be apart of it. Yoganians(word I made up) live the yoga life, it’s not just an exercise but a way of life for them. Exercise is said to be just one part of yoga, well that’s the part I am in for Happy. It is about disciplining your body, mind and soul. I believe I can handle that.

There are many different poses and types of yoga. The benefits of yoga go on and on. A few of them are hand-eye coordination improves, immunity increases, sleep improves, (here’s the biggie) weight normalizes, energy level is increased, and improved flexibility and joint range. You can go to almost any city and any gym and learn yoga. You can also go online and take some classes….lol. If for nothing more than the cool equipment and outfits, I am going to take me some Yoga…sooner or later….Hee hee. I want to be a fit, healthy Yoganian, too! Which do you prefer yoga or regular exercise? Also, would you rather do yoga or pilates?

Heavenly Couture

Posted by kilohana under fashion

heavenly1

For anyone who has a teen or young adult living in the house, you know clothing them is about as expensive as feeding them. I often search the net looking for clothing and what-not’s. Then one day I ran across this site, Heavenly Couture, it sounded cool and the clothing looked pretty nice, then I found the price. Everything 17.95 or less, I was at a loss of words. Sounds too good to be true, right. Yeah, I felt the same way so I started my usual search on the net for any negative information in regards to this site/company. I found none, all I heard was good things, so I decided to share. Heavenly Couture is a California based shop that specializes in women’s clothing. There clothes are really cute and fun, especially for the price. Check it out yourself, Heavenly Couture…..oh, how, heavenly Winking, they kinda remind me of Old Navy or AE, but a little jazzier.

Shoes

Posted by kilohana under My Style, fashion, fashion trends, shoes

Want a shoe or sandal unlike any one else? Me,too. I despise wearing the same shoes or clothes as everyone else walking around. I like to look out for new fresh shoes, especially hard to find is a unique sandal. I have found one sandal that I am sure you won’t see many people in your neighborhood walking around in. This is the Mobius Hi and the Mono Jane Hi.

imageThe Mobius Hi is a pearlized leather open-heeled sandal. What is so unique about this sandal is that is made as one continuous piece, a first for me Happy. It is also said to be very comfortable. The Mobius Hi comes a vast array of colors, so you could easily wear this shoe, almost, everyday of the summer months. Can also be found in Nylon, with varying heights of the heel. I love this shoe! At a cost range of $190.00-$220.00, I may only get to love it from afar Crying.

The next shoe is a heel(kinda). imageThe Mono Jane Hi is fabulous. It combines my favorite things wedge heel, peep toe and heel height! United Nude states it’s their most comfortable of the season. The heel height is 3.5 in but what’s unique and quite cool about this shoe is the 1/2in hidden platform inside. No one will ever know it was a platform shoe, can you tell? This shoe is made of leather and has a rubber sole, the strap closes with Velcro. It’s a little cheaper than the Mobius Hi, at a price of 175.00. Maybe it’ll go on sale??? But for now, I’ll keep it as my desktop background…..pining endlessly for these 2 shoes….Love Struck.

Going Green

Posted by kilohana under I notice, cool tips, fashion trends

gogreen Green is the new “in” thing. From celebrities to the young mom strolling with her baby, you can see everyone’s getting in on the green train. All I can say is “It’s about time!” Being green or “earth aware”, used to be simply separating your paper from plastics. But now there are loads of ways you can do your part.

Don’t feel like you are demeaning someone by offering used clothes. If they are nice clothes in good condition, why not pass them on. Rather than have them thrown away, give them to someone who can use them. I have found many sites on the internet where people are begging for your used things. If you can’t find anyone to give them to, sell or donate them to a local thrift or re-use store. There everywhere, so there’s never an excuse to throw away clothing.

Water bottles, I am sure, are filling up waste piles by the thousands. Why not buy a water filtration system (they come flavored now also) and reuse those water bottles. Better yet, just buy one reusable water bottle and do away with all the already filled ones. Now you can personalize your bottle, always knowing which one is yours, and you can make it as cute as you like.

Save foods for “left-overs” and then actually eat them later. Don’t be so quick to throw away your uneaten food. If you eat half your lasagna, wrap the remaining up for lunch tomorrow. Eating out only makes it worse. Think about how much garbage we throw away just from eating out. The bag it came in, the burger wrapper, the fry container, the cup…that’s way too much. Cook your own food, it’s better for you, too.

These are some quick and simple ways to help. Start thinking about how much you actually throw away and see if you can find inventive ways to throw away less.

Why Exercise?

Posted by kilohana under Health, fitness

That question can be answered simply, for your health. But the reasons it helps your health is what you really need to know. These are the reasons that should push you to stay on your exercise routine and help you to maintain it. The main reason people exercise is weight loss and maintaining their weight. But here are some health benefits from exercise that you should know about:

  • Boosts your immune system by increasing your white blood cells
  • Decreases the risk of developing some types of cancer, including some breast cancers and some colon cancers
  • Makes sure brain works faster, improves memory and concentration
  • Makes bones stronger, builds muscle which increases metabolism.
  • Keeps heart strong by increasing your heart rate.
  • Promotes a feeling of self confidence
  • Stress reliever

The benefits go on and on. Exercise makes you look and feel better, period. We should all be getting atleast 30 minutes of exercise a day, which can be broken up to 10 minute intervals. Here are some tips to get you 30 minutes a day for a busy person. When you go to the grocery store park at the end of the parking lot and walk in. Anytime you’re going shopping at the mall, park at the far end from where you need to be and walk to where you are going (this will really help you clock some minutes). Play with your kids. If the kids are running around the house, run and play with them….it’s a reason they get so out of breath…good luck hanging in with them. Do crunches, squats, push-ups, and leg lifts at your home. Anytime you can squeeze in some. These are some things I do, I am sure there are hundreds of easy ways to get in some extra exercise a day. just look around.

Instant Eye Shadow

Posted by kilohana under Bargains!, fashion trends, make-up

eye majic eye shadowI saw today on HSN, a new product Eye Majic Instant Eye Shadow. To sum it up, AMAZING. Looks a little too good to be true, if I say so myself. What it is is, eye shadow you put on in small strips across your eyes and instantly(10 seconds) you have beautiful perfect eye shadow on. It reminds me of those nose strips for snoring Hee hee. I was amazed, and inquisitive about this item. Usually if it looks too good to be true, it is. Well maybe not in this case. I looked it up on the net and read through all the reviews and every one….seriously every one is raving about it. This is a perfect item, in my opinion, for someone who is just starting out with make-up, like teen.

The kit comes with an instructional sheet and in a 10 pack of 5 warm toned colors with a hint of shimmer in them. With so much positive feedback, I am going to give it a go. Heck, it’s only 19.95, I waste that on junk all time, hopefully this won’t be!

Mineral Make-Up

Posted by kilohana under I notice, My Style, fashion trends, make-up, shopping

mineral make-up What’s the biggest craze out? Mineral make-up and I am GLAD to say I am apart of it. My weapon of choice is Bare Mineral’s (Bare Escentuals). If you keep up on my post you will find mention of it often. I am a Baremineralaholic (my made up word Hee hee), but for good reason. Mineral make-up is becoming one of the hottest beauty trends I have seen in a long while. With the first mention of mineral make-up back in the ’70’s, this new craze spread like wildfires.

Mineral makeup claims numerous health/skin benefits, stating to be so natural you can sleep in it. I love it simply for the way it makes me look. With one sweep of the brush, I have the airbrushed skin look going on. Simply Great! Mineral makeup gives you a natural, light, lasting glow. Other makeup products strive for what this makeup has already done. I usually break out or have some other nasty side effect from makeup, but not this one. Could it be the missing irritants, such as fragrance and preservatives, maybe? Bare Minerals has my skin looking even toned and healthy, I don’t know how they do it, but they do it. Now almost everything is capable of coming in the small powder jars. I know, because I have a whole case of mineral makeup Batting Eyelashes.

Good for your skin or not, I love it. I haven’t any trouble wearing it and you’d have a hard time ripping my flawless face brush from my hand Feeling beat up. If this is your first time hearing about mineral makeup, "where have you been" and if you have heard about it you should already own some and know what I am talking about!

Just Swirl Tap and Buff yourself to beautiful skin!

Benefits of a Massage

Posted by kilohana under Health, fitness

massage There are a million reasons why you should be getting a massage every two weeks or so. But the main reason people get them is the relaxation and pampering they experience from it. The whole setting you experience can be overwhelming for the best of us, I know always fall asleep on the table. I worked for the past 7 years as a massage therapist and there are many other reasons, useful reasons, to get that regular massage. Whether you want a deep tissue or Swedish, you should be regularly getting one.

Thought of as a luxury, it actually has many healing therapeutic benefits. A few of the benefits are stress relief, pain management, muscle maintenance and repair, increases joint flexibility, lessens depression, reduces spasms and cramping, releases endorphins (natural painkillers), and enhances sleep quality. Many of us walk around with problems that can be solved by a few sessions with a massage therapist. Ever feel a knot or pain in your neck or shoulder? A massage therapist can help, if not remove, the knot, pain, and kinks in your body.

A massage is so relaxing and calming, it makes me wonder why everyone doesn’t get them. More amazing, there are many people walking around who have never experienced one. After a massage, you will feel energized and ready to face the world. Just remember to drink lots of water after, to help flush the toxins and help with any soreness from deep tissue. The effects are so profound, if you haven’t ever gotten a massage, make an appointment today! You can thank me later Winking.

Free Wedding Guide

Posted by kilohana under My Style, cool tips, shopping

wedding pic Hearing that title, I am sure has sparked a lot of attention. Seems impossible, unless you win a free wedding but with a little ingenuity, persistence, and flexibility you just may pull off one. Free Weddings don’t just grow on trees, though, you have to put in the work to get a “free” or inexpensive wedding. I will tell you some tricks and ideas to help you on your way there.

I can’t stress enough, the word to keep in mind is ADVERTISING! A company only survives by advertising, whether it be word of mouth or television commercials they need to get their name and what they do public. This is where you have a sweet advantage…you are getting ready to have a wedding, which can be a company’s jackpot. Here is a list to check off:

  • Be Flexible - Keep your wedding dates open, some businesses may be able to help you out more if you can go by their schedule. Be open to whatever comes
  • Seek out local businesses - when choosing bakery, or tuxedo rental shop find local company’s and see  if they would be willing to trade the cake and tux for advertising at the wedding. You can put cards around the cake stating “cake courtesy of ___”.
  • Photography - Most photographers are freelance, self employed. This can be a great opportunity for both of you. You can get free photography and in exchange let the photographer have a table with business cards and samples of work or put up a banner somewhere. You may also be able to get your engagement pictures free or inexpensive by letting the photographer know you are willing to put them up at the wedding, that way everyone can see what great work the photographer does…..Great Idea!!
  • Another trick for photography, in the invitations ask everyone to bring disposable camera’s (as a special gift) and have the guest’s snap away ton’s of pics…then get them developed and make your own wedding book. (I bet you get some great pictures)
  • Invitations - Do them yourself. You can print them off the computer and add all kinds of scrapbooking items or you can go out and buy a do it yourself invitation kit. If that’s too much for you, ask to trade invitations for, what’s the key word, ADVERTISING.
  • Wedding Dress - See about trading for advertising with a local boutique, you may end up with a gorgeous dress (borrowed of course) you never could have gotten. After all they want you to look your best when it’s their name on the line.
  • Catering - have an evening wedding, that way you only need the wedding cake and  hor’dourves, get family and friends to help out with those. (can also try trading services for advertising)
  • Wedding location - try your family church or a country club that someone you know is a member, usually both places will offer free services for members. Also, keep in mind a beach wedding or a great backyard wedding with a garden reception. Combine wedding and honeymoon together, do a cruise or special location, both will give free wedding with reservations…do some research into it.

These are some ideas to get you started on your way. Start asking around and you may sponsors you never thought would go for it. I know I did when I needed them. I have had a dress donated, fitted and redesigned for me, so it can be done! You just have to look in the right places…..local businesses are a good place to start!Remember to be creative when thinking of things you may need or you want for your wedding. Have fun and have a happy free wedding!

Let me know what all worked for you and how you did it!!!
