Going Green

gogreen Green is the new "in" thing. From celebrities to the young mom strolling with her baby, you can see everyone’s getting in on the green train. All I can say is "It’s about time!" Being green or "earth aware", used to be simply separating your paper from plastics. But now there are loads of ways you can do your part.

Don’t feel like you are demeaning someone by offering used clothes. If they are nice clothes in good condition, why not pass them on. Rather than have them thrown away, give them to someone who can use them. I have found many sites on the internet where people are begging for your used things. If you can’t find anyone to give them to, sell or donate them to a local thrift or re-use store. There everywhere, so there’s never an excuse to throw away clothing.

Water bottles, I am sure, are filling up waste piles by the thousands. Why not buy a water filtration system (they come flavored now also) and reuse those water bottles. Better yet, just buy one reusable water bottle and do away with all the already filled ones. Now you can personalize your bottle, always knowing which one is yours, and you can make it as cute as you like.

Save foods for "left-overs" and then actually eat them later. Don’t be so quick to throw away your uneaten food. If you eat half your lasagna, wrap the remaining up for lunch tomorrow. Eating out only makes it worse. Think about how much garbage we throw away just from eating out. The bag it came in, the burger wrapper, the fry container, the cup…that’s way too much. Cook your own food, it’s better for you, too.

These are some quick and simple ways to help. Start thinking about how much you actually throw away and see if you can find inventive ways to throw away less.
