Superhero Fashion

Posted by kilohana under I notice, fashion, fashion trends, shopping

image Capes, masks, super prints and bionic shoes are at last becoming a fashion trend. Sure you won’t be caught dead wearing the pictured outfit out about town (or will you), but what about a cute ensemble that has those same colors and the big cuffs. Yeah, you’d be in it and looking FIERCE!

New structures and new bold colors are now gracing the fashion runways. So, my question is "What’s your Super Personality?" Will you be the villain or the superhero? Seems like they are equally matched in the style and cost department. Check out some of the fashions that showed at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art:

< Shorts can come in many lengths and shapes. Depending on your age, size, and style there is a certain short you should choose. It seems that the older you get the longer your shorts should be. In fact, that is pretty correct, although there are shorts you can wear no matter what age you are and there is a stopping point on how long they get. Just because you get older doesn’t mean you have to start dressing like an old woman. Here is a brief list of the different types of shorts that are out on the market now, that can make you look and feel great at any age:

backwards In an earlier post, I hinted at the fact that this shoe, currently by Marc Jacobs is the next big thing. Well it officially came out on runways in the NY Fashion Week in 2007 right before Winter. The only thing forward about these shoes is the fact that they are "fashion forward" right now. I wonder what everyone was thinking at that fashion show. I think "Stunned" could sum it up in one word. The shoes measuring in at 4 inches high, although quite pretty, can be nothing but horrific to walk in. Imagine wearing shoes, let me correct that HEELS, that you can never apply weight to the back of the shoe or you will come tumbling down. Perfect for Ballet Dancers maybe not so much the rest of us, you surely will perfect walking on your toes wearing these.

One positive I can think of is, it has to be one heck of  a workout for your calves. Imagine a High Heel Shoe minus the heel, it’s ridiculous, yet, oh so sexy! They seem to be slowly trickling into the mainstream and we are sure to see more and more celebrities wearing them. These are sure to be a HUGE hit fast, in the lime light fashion is everything.

Would you trade being able to stay upright with wearing gorgeous "fashionable" shoes? What can they possible think of next, no heels at all??

Heavenly Couture

For anyone who has a teen or young adult living in the house, you know clothing them is about as expensive as feeding them. I often search the net looking for clothing and what-not’s. Then one day I ran across this site, Heavenly Couture, it sounded cool and the clothing looked pretty nice, then I found the price. Everything 17.95 or less, I was at a loss of words. Sounds too good to be true, right. Yeah, I felt the same way so I started my usual search on the net for any negative information in regards to this site/company. I found none, all I heard was good things, so I decided to share. Heavenly Couture is a California based shop that specializes in women’s clothing. There clothes are really cute and fun, especially for the price. Check it out yourself, Heavenly Couture…..oh, how, heavenly Winking, they kinda remind me of Old Navy or AE, but a little jazzier.

Shoes

Posted by kilohana under My Style, fashion, fashion trends, shoes

Want a shoe or sandal unlike any one else? Me,too. I despise wearing the same shoes or clothes as everyone else walking around. I like to look out for new fresh shoes, especially hard to find is a unique sandal. I have found one sandal that I am sure you won’t see many people in your neighborhood walking around in. This is the Mobius Hi and the Mono Jane Hi.

imageThe Mobius Hi is a pearlized leather open-heeled sandal. What is so unique about this sandal is that is made as one continuous piece, a first for me Happy. It is also said to be very comfortable. The Mobius Hi comes a vast array of colors, so you could easily wear this shoe, almost, everyday of the summer months. Can also be found in Nylon, with varying heights of the heel. I love this shoe! At a cost range of $190.00-$220.00, I may only get to love it from afar Crying.

The next shoe is a heel(kinda). imageThe Mono Jane Hi is fabulous. It combines my favorite things wedge heel, peep toe and heel height! United Nude states it’s their most comfortable of the season. The heel height is 3.5 in but what’s unique and quite cool about this shoe is the 1/2in hidden platform inside. No one will ever know it was a platform shoe, can you tell? This shoe is made of leather and has a rubber sole, the strap closes with Velcro. It’s a little cheaper than the Mobius Hi, at a price of 175.00. Maybe it’ll go on sale??? But for now, I’ll keep it as my desktop background…..pining endlessly for these 2 shoes….Love Struck.

Jelly Shoes

Posted by kilohana under Good Buys, My Style, fashion, fashion trends, shoes, shopping

jellies Did you sport the old jelly shoe? I know I did, and with pride until I realized how cheap and nasty they were becoming. I think, no I know, my sis first brought the realization of how much I disliked them to mind. She wore these braided clear jellies, yeah you remember those. But they were worn over and dirty, remember that look, not nice at all! So I made up my mind, I would never wear them again…..until, I saw the new jelly. The new jellies are, I hate to say this, GORGEOUS! I am impressed.

They are sleek, sophisticated and versatile. Now in many different styles and colors, I can see myself owning a pair Hee hee. Big designers, such as Gucci, Fendi, and Marc Jacobs, are jumping on the jelly bandwagon. Ranging in price from 40-hundreds of dollars, they certainly have come a long way.

Perfect Jeans

Posted by kilohana under My Style, cool tips, fashion, fashion trends, shopping

jeans1 It can be hard to find the perfect fit in jeans. You have to take into consideration jean color, stretch or no stretch, pockets or no pockets, leg width and length, and not too mention how will they look on YOU. I have an easy time finding jeans I like, but a hard time finding ones I like on ME. There are certain jeans I know I have to stay away from because they make me look like…what’s the word I am look for…oh yeah, a sausage Pig…all squished in and way too tight. They will feel fine on…maybe a little snug…but not at all the way they look. There are certain criteria we all should follow depending on body style, height, and age.

If you are slimmer, you can pull off the low rise skinny jeans, straight or boot cut. Muscular/athletic body shapes look best in straight and boot cut. If you are pear shaped go for a low rise boot cut or flared jean for more visual balance. If you are more curvier (thicker) try a higher waste line or jeans with a built in hidden high waste, these will conceal the tummy and love handles.

Jeans look great on everyone, no matter what your age. They are great for casual and more “dressy” occassions. Jeans are so versatile, you should have atleast 2 favorite best fitting jeans in your closet. When shopping for your next pair of jeans, don’t take into consideration the expense, just get a pair of quality great fitting jeans that make you look and feel amazing. You won’t regret it!

Here’s a tip, if you are not in a hurry to get jeans, QVC makes a customized fit jean on your measurements…what a great idea!
